“Reformation and Education” is the title of the third theme-year of the Luther decade which runs until the anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.
The occasion is provided by Philipp Melanchthon. Even his contemporaries honoured him with the title “Germany's teacher”. For a long time this Reformer from Wittenberg has stood in the shadow of Martin Luther. Today their statues stand harmoniously on the market square in Wittenberg and recall that they struggled hand-in-hand for the renewal of the Church. Even their graves next to each other in the Schloßkirche are a testament to their friendship and their pursuit of the same goals.

Who was Philipp Melanchthon? In the “Augustine Talks” (Augustinergespräche) during this year we will try to find the answer to this question.
