Destruction of the library building during an air raid, 267 people who were taking refuge in the cellar of the library were killed. There was damage to the other monastery buildings and to the church

Reconstruction of the church, cloisters, east wing and guest house

Transfer the Evangelical theological school from Wittenberg to the monastery

Acquisition of the west wing and old priory from municipal possession

Comprehensive restoration of the monastery for use as a church meeting house under the management of Dr. Käthe Menzel-Jordan

The Augustinian monastery becomes seat of the provost of Erfurt-Nordhausen

Four sisters of the Evangelical Casteller Ring Community move into the monastery (another three sisters followed in 2000)

Presentation of the Cross of Nails of the Community of the Cross of Nails (CCN) by Canon Adrian Daffern (Coventry Cathedral) and the chairman of the CCN in Germany,  Pfr. i.R. Hartmut Ebmeier. St Augustine's is now the first Cross of Nails centre in Thuringia.
