Chapter Room

The Chapter Room in the East wing of the monastery was built in the first half of the 14th century and is one of the most aestheticly impressive rooms in St Augustine's. On the south side it adjoins St. Katharine's Chapel, also early 14th century. Both rooms are entered from the cloisters.

he east side of the room has two lancet windows which look out onto the monastery garden, whereas on the opposite wall there is only one window.

The four ribbed-ceiling vaults rest on an eight sided pillar in the middle of the room. The capital stone has a ribbed cap and is similar to the capital in St Catherine's chapel.
