In addition to various events there are regular guided tours of St Augustine's Monastery, St Elisabeth's Chapel and other important sights within the Altstadt. Guided tours of the historical library are only possible with prior booking.

  • Monastery tour including the exhibition BIBEL-MONASTERY-LUTHER
    • Monday to Saturday
    • April to October: 10 am, 11 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm & 5 pm
    • November to March:  10 am, 11 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3 pm & 4 pm
    • Sundays:  11 am, 2 pm & 3 pm
    • On public holidays: 11 am and on arrangement
    • Duration: 1 hour
    • Price: 7.50 € / person
    • If you are coming as a group then please book your guided tour in advance

  • Tour of the Library of the Evangelical Mission (Bibliothek des Evangelischen Ministeriums)
    • Monday – Friday only by prior arrangement

  • St Elisabeth's Chapel (Elisabethkapelle) – Murals from the fourteenth century depicting the life of St Elisabeth of Thuringia. Meet at the Monastery Café (Klosterstube)
    • April to October: Tuesday – Friday: 4 pm
    • Saturday: 11 am, 2 pm & 3 pm (max. 14 guests per tour)  Tours are also possible at other times during the week, and from November to March. Please do not hesitate to ask!
